How are my payments allocated against my Opus card balance?

As of 15th January 2011 some positive changes have taken effect on your account.

We have changed the order in which any payments you make pay off the transactions on your account.  This means that instead of paying off transactions on your statement starting with the lowest rate first, any payments you make will go towards paying off transactions with the highest interest rate first, continuing down to the lowest rate.

If the payment is not enough to pay off all transactions at a particular interest rate we will pay off transactions charged at that interest rate in the following order: cash advances & cheques, purchases & balance transfers, default sums.

If you pay more than the amount due shown on your statement, we will use any remaining payment to pay off transactions that have not yet appeared on your statement in the same order as those that do appear on your statement.
